As our technologies rapidly develop to nearly unfathomable levels of complexity and scale, some problems remain just as hard to navigate as ever: problems of effective human collaboration.
We know space assets and technologies have the potential to completely transform our planet and safeguard our entire future as a species, but none of it will be possible without developing radical new models of governance. Space enterprise, including our eventual settlement on the Moon and on Mars, must be just, equitable, and sustainable.
So what are our primary challenges in realizing effective space governance?
(1) Acting collectively as a planet;
(2) Strategizing collectively as a planet for stability and sustainability;
(3) Governing future space settlements-- will they be governed as an extension of politics and sovereignty from Earth, or should they be governed based on space as a Common Heritage of Mankind? Will new models of self-governance be needed for future space settlements?
Join Dr. Eligar Sadeh and Mara Cortona 5/19 at 11am EST for a discussion of our next steps toward a truly interplanetary governance model. Register below to receive the Zoom link!
